Dentons announces it has promoted Partner Cristina Daianu as Head of its VentureTech practice in Bucharest. While being part of the firm’s Global Emerging Growth and Venture Technology Group, she has advised and worked closely over the years with business accelerators/incubators, start-up founders and venture capital investors.

It is always a joy working with entrepreneurs and getting inspired by their ideas, creativity and quick decision-making process. It is also exciting to advise tech companies throughout their lifecycle – from ideation to start-up and maturity, and all the way until a successful exit or IPO. The Romanian tech startup scene has been booming recently as evidenced by the number of ventures, new accelerators, capital raising rounds and total funding amounts. I am therefore grateful to be able to lead the future-looking VentureTech practice in Romania and be an active contributor to the thriving local tech ecosystem,” stated Cristina Daianu, Partner and Head of VentureTech practice in Bucharest.

Cristina Daianu is a Partner with more than 20 years of experience in technology and venture capital, as well as corporate and M&A. A recognized leader in her field, Cristina focuses on representing emerging growth technology companies in a broad array of venture capital, private equity, securities and strategic transactions. Over the years, Cristina has cultivated a loyal following of German investor clients and she is Vice-President of the Arbitral Tribunal of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce. She is also a frequent speaker in various venture tech and start-up events.

The Covid crisis has accelerated certain pre-existing trends, including the move toward development and adoption of fintech, legal tech, AI and robotics. Dentons is in the vanguard of law firms globally and we are leaders in advising clients that develop, market and invest in technologies of the future. In fact, Nextlaw Labs, the global legal tech accelerator and innovation consultancy launched by Dentons, is at the forefront of legal tech. So establishing a dedicated VentureTech practice in Bucharest led by experienced partner Cristina Daianu is a logical next step at a time when the world is watching the Romanian market for unicorns and pre-unicorns,” added Perry Zizzi, Managing Partner in Dentons’ Bucharest office..
