Law firm Dentons has strengthened its Bucharest office with the recruitment of a new Corporate partner, Cristian Popescu. A versatile lawyer with a broad range of professional experience, he will also add to the Firm’s capabilities in intellectual property, real estate and restructuring.

Cristian’s arrival is a milestone in that strategy.” said Perry Zizzi, Romania Managing Partner and Head of the M&A practice in Bucharest. “Last year, we grew our Banking and Finance practice with a highly skilled team in real estate finance, acquisition finance, project finance and trade finance, led by two English-law qualified partners. We look forward to attracting top talent to further expand key practice areas such as M&A, Tax, Dispute Resolution and others in 2021.”
Cristian Popescu has more than 15 years’ legal experience in corporate, commercial and agriculture projects, with a special focus on land acquisition, development and financing. He has extensive experience in intellectual property and copyright, assisting clients in a broad range of issues related to the software copyrights, registration protection and use of trademarks, patents and domain names. He is recognized as a leading lawyer in Romania by international legal directories, such as Legal 500 EMEA and IFLR1000. He joins Dentons from a Romanian law firm.
He is admitted as an IP counselor with the Romanian Patents and Trademarks Office (OSIM). He is also a member of the agriculture task forces of the Netherlands Romanian Chamber of Commerce (NRCC) and the Coalitia pentru Dezvoltarea Romaniei (Coalition for the Development of Romania).
As part of “Dentons Romania 2.0” strategy supporting the Firm’s premier position in CEE, the Firm has seen dynamic growth in Bucharest. In addition to this latest partner hire, in the last three months alone the Firm has been joined by eight new lawyers at the associate and counsel level. The new team additions have enhanced the Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate and M&A, Real Estate and Competition practices.
Dentons’ Bucharest office now counts more than 30 lawyers, including 10 partners.
