The Bucharest office of international law firm Schoenherr has advised Austrian insurer Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) in the acquisition of Romanian operations owned by French group AXA. The transaction, signed on August 3 in Paris, is the second deal concluded lately between VIG and AXA, with the assistance of Schoenherr lawyers. Previously, on June 6, VIG successfully concluded the takeover of AXA operations in Serbia.

The Schoenherr team involved in the Romanian transaction included Markus Piuk, Partner, Monica Cojocaru, Local Partner and Roxana Dobrila, Attorney at Law. Insurers owned in Romania by the Vienna Insurance Group include BCR Asigurari de Viata, Asirom and Omniasig. French group AXA is currently the largest insurance company in the world.
