Deloitte Romania strengthens its Energy & Resources practice as Razvan Nicolescu, formerly Minister Delegate for Energy, joins the firm as Executive Lead Advisor, position from which he will focus on both Romania and Central Europe.
Apart from his term as minister delegate, Razvan Nicolescu's professional background includes various positions within public or private institutions, all connected to the energy sector.
As the Romanian Energy Attaché to the European Union, he was involved in the successful negotiations on the European energy and climate change package.
During his tenure as Minister Delegate, the energy sector analysis for the revision of the Romanian strategy 2015-2035 was carried out, strategic projects such as the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline or modernization of Urziceni gas storage facility were completed, and the State’s role as shareholder in the energy companies was redefined through increased transparency and through encouraging a private and professional management.
In the same period, the largest initial public offering of a state-owned company on the Romanian market was conducted, Electrica free floating 51 percent of its shares.
Since 2009, Razvan Nicolescu has been president of the Administrative Board of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators being designated by the Council of the European Union and for more than five years he had been director within OMV Petrom.
Nicolescu graduated from Energy Faculty of “Politehnica” University of Bucharest and holds an MBA degree from the Solvay Business School.
