Wolf Theiss's Bucharest office expanded its TMT (technology, media and telecom) practice, compliance and personal data protection by strengthening the local team with Maria Maxim as Coordinating Partner.

Throughout her legal career for nearly 20 years, Maria Maxim has implemented a number of compliance and personal data protection programs for major companies and has been supporting a number of external trainings in her areas of expertise.

Maria Maxim has a vast knowledge of the telecommunication industry, having a legal professional experience of more than 18 years in Telekom SA (formerly Romtelecom SA), where she started her career in 1990. Since 1998, Maria has been the legal advisor of Romtelecom branch in Bucharest and between 1999 and 2009 he held various positions as coordinator of Telekom SA Department of Litigation and Labor Law, and was then appointed Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee. In the years 2009-2016, Maria was Chief Compliance Officer and Data Privacy Officer Romania / Money Laundering for Telekom Romania and also for the other Romanian subsidiaries of Deutsche Telekom.

Her experience includes Senior Manager, FIDS at Ernst & Young Romania, where she has coordinated investigations for companies in various fields, followed by risk assessment procedures and the implementation of compliance and data protection programs staff (EU GDPR).

Maria Maxim holds a degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest and a Master's degree in commercial law from Titu Maiorescu University in Bucharest. She has recently completed an EMBA program at the Maastricht School of Management, currently a PhD student in civil law at the University of Bucharest.
